Joel
Chapter 3
1
Eschatology: The Day of the Lord
In recent days, I will pour out my spirit on all flesh. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
2
Even on my servants and maidens, I will pour out my spirit on that day.
3
I will show wonders in the heavens and on earth —blood, fire, and columns of smoke.
4
The sun will darken, and the moon, will turn to blood at the approach of the great and dreadful day of God.
5
Then, everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. For on Mount Zion, a remnant will remain, as the Lord has declared; in Jerusalem, some will be saved, those whom the Lord calls.

Commentaries
Eschatology: The Day of the Lord.
In Judah and Jerusalem, men and women, regardless of social status, will receive the spirit of prophecy, fulfilling Moses’ wish in Numbers 11:29. As in Ezekiel 47, the gift of the Spirit is connected to the symbol of water that restores the earth’s fertility (cf. Jl 4:18).
