Hymn

On that day you will say:“I give praise to you, O Lord. Although you have been angry with me your anger has been appeased and you have consoled me.

2

He is the God of my salvation; in him, I trust and am not afraid, the Lord is my strength: him I will praise, the one who saved me.”

3

You will draw water with joy from the very fountain of salvation.

4

Then you will say: “Praise to the Lord, break into songs of joy for him, proclaim his marvelous deeds among the nations and exalt his Name.

5

Sing to the Lord: wonders he has done let these be known all over the earth.

6

Sing for joy, O people of Zion, or great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

12:1 - 12:6

Hymn.

The prophet has been describing the hopes of return, the end of oppression, God’s freeing act, and the new exodus. Just as Moses sang a song of thanks at the end of crossing the Red Sea (Ex 15:1-18), so too will this new exodus foretold by Isaiah inspire songs and thanksgiving.
