Esther
Chapter 16
Interpretation of Mordecai’s Dream
And Mordecai said: “This is God’s work.
I remember my dream about this, and none of it has failed to be fulfilled—
The small spring that turned into a river, the light, the sun, and the flood of water. Esther is the river, whom the king married and made queen.
Haman and I are two dragons.
The nations are the ones who gathered to destroy the Jews.
And my nation is Israel, my people, who cried out to God and were saved. Yes, the Lord has rescued his people and delivered us from all these evils. God has performed signs and wonders that have never occurred among the nations.
For this reason, God prepared two destinies—one for his people and the other for all nations.
These two destinies were fulfilled at the moment, the hour, and the day set by God among the nations.
He remembered his people and delivered justice to his inheritance.
Thus, gathering together with joy before God on the fourteenth and fifteenth of the month of Adar, Israel will celebrate these days for generations to come.
Epilogue of the Greek Text
In the fourth year of Ptolemy and Cleopatra’s reign, Dositheus, who claimed to be a priest and a Levite, along with his son Ptolemy, brought the previous letter concerning the Purim to Egypt, asserting that it was authentic and had been translated by Lysimachus, Ptolemy’s son and a resident of Jerusalem.”
