Jesus then took the child by the hand and said: “Child, wake up!”

They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.

As all the people were crying loudly, Jesus said to them: “Do not weep, she is not dead but asleep.”

When he entered the house, Jesus did not allow anyone to follow him except Peter, James, and John, along with the child’s father and mother.

But Jesus heard the news and said to the official: “Do not fear, only believe.”

While Jesus was still speaking, a messenger arrived from the official’s house to tell him: “Your daughter has just died; don’t trouble the master any further.”

Jesus said to her: “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

The woman realized she had been found out. She came trembling and knelt before Jesus. Then she openly admitted why she had touched him and how she was instantly healed.

But Jesus insisted: “Someone touched me, for I felt power go out from me.”

Jesus asked: “Who touched me?” Everyone denied it, and Peter said: “Master, the crowd is pushing all around you.”
