Isaiah 48:17-19
Chapter 48
17
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I, the Lord, your God, teach you what is best for you; I lead you in the way that you must go.
18
Had you paid attention to my commandments, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
19
Your descendants would have been like the sand, and those born of your stock like its grains, their names never cut off nor blotted out from my presence.

Commentaries
Cyrus’ Mission.
Israel only needs to listen (obey) to the word of the Lord to experience his creative power (12-13) and receive his gifts of peace and justice (18). God loves those who do his will, such as Cyrus, the Persian king, whom the Lord chose and sent (14-15). God invites the people to participate in a new exodus (17).
