This passage is a doublet of 12:15-20, which is supposedly explained in 12:34 as motivated by the haste of the departure from Egypt. There is a very personal note regarding the meaning of celebrating this feast: we do this to remember what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt (8). It is not, therefore, a historical reference, but an actualization in “me” of the salvific event.
