Jehu of Israel.

Until now, Elisha’s actions had been relatively peaceful, but now he instructs Jehu, the commander of Joram’s army, to be anointed king of Israel and to remove the house of Ahab. The historical background includes the bloodshed and mistreatment by the king and queen mother; the theological reason is found in verse 22: Jezebel is blamed for introducing idols and witchcraft into Israel, which had been rejected from the start of prophecy in Israel. The narrator does not question Elisha’s decision to support Jehu’s uprising or the extreme measures taken by the coup leader. Ultimately, everything is justified by the misconduct and misrule of Ahab’s dynasty, mainly due to the contamination of the Yahwist faith with foreign gods.
