Healing of Tobit.

From Chapter 4 onward, divine intervention becomes clear through Tobias, who, guided by the angel Raphael, goes to help his father and Raguel’s daughter with their troubles. First, he brings salvation, peace, and joy to Sarah, then he restores health and happiness to her father by healing his blindness. This visit of divine intervention to the elderly and faithful Tobit is the focus of our reading. Besides the use of the fish’s gall, other factors make Tobit’s healing a true miracle rather than just a magical trick: the presence of the angel Raphael, the son’s words urging his father to trust, and most importantly, Tobit’s own gratitude, as he credits his healing to God.
