Two years have passed, and Paul remains in prison, still entangled in the legal battle that will decide his future. Three days after taking office, the new governor, Festus, must already handle the Paul case at the Jews’ request. In this story, Luke introduces us to the third Roman authority who finds Paul innocent. Wanting to please the Jews, Festus asks the Apostle if he wants to go back to Jerusalem for a trial. Maybe tired of the ongoing trouble, Paul uses his right as a Roman citizen to appeal to Caesar in Rome. Is he truly seeking justice, or is he following God’s plan?
