This chapter aims to expose the “false teachers” who damage community life. The doctrine of the “false teachers” is marked by denying the Lord (1; cf. 1 Jn 2:22ff) and promoting a lifestyle that encourages sectarianism, idolatry, immorality, discrediting the way of truth—the Christian life—love of money combined with deceit, debauchery, disrespect for God’s authority, animalistic behavior, insults, corruption, adultery, and greed.
