Among the garments mentioned, the most significant are the ephod and the breastplate. The “ephod” was a special garment unique to the high priest; its shape resembles a vest or small apron held across the chest by two straps and a type of cincture. From both straps, two precious stones hang, each inscribed with the names of six of the twelve tribes of Israel, serving as a reminder and symbol of the presence of all the people during the acts of worship led by the high priest.
