Psalms
Chapter 112
The Happiness or the Faithful
Alleluia!
ABlessed is the one who fears the Lord,Bwho greatly delights in his commands.
His children will be powerful on earth; the upright’s offspring will be blessed.
Wealth and riches are for his family; there, his integrity will remain.
He is for the righteous a light in the darkness; he is kind, merciful and upright.
It will be well with him who lends freely, who leads a life of justice and honesty.
For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered and loved forever.
He has no fear of evil news, for his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is confident; he need not fear;he shall prevail over his foes at the end.
He gives generously to the poor; his merits will last forever; and his head will be raised in honor.
The wicked will see this and be furious: they will gnash their teeth in seething envy. The desire of the wicked will fail.

Commentaries
112
This is another alphabetical psalm that elaborates on the blessings granted to those who remain faithful to God: descendants, prosperity, virtue, and salvation. It also addresses our reverence for God, demonstrated through actions—primarily by showing charity to our neighbors. Indeed, as the psalmist states in verse 4, ‘He is for the righteous, a light in darkness….’ Because in John 9:5, Jesus says, ‘I am the light of the world.’ Therefore, we should never be in darkness. His guiding light will always be present whenever we need it, especially during our most desperate moments and when we are groping through the darkness of the night. Our society also needs witnesses who fear God and are passionate lovers of his commandments. Men and women must reflect the rays of the Light because they are generous, compassionate, and attentive. Those who want to serve as witnesses of God today can pray with this psalm.
