Introduction

On October 7, 2019, Pope Francis ordered the inscription of Our Lady of Loreto into the General Roman Calendar. She is to be celebrated each year as an optional Memorial on December 10 (the day her feast is celebrated in Loreto).

O God, who at the announcement of your angel
willed that your Word would take flesh in the womb
of the Blessed Virgin Mary, grant, we pray,
to us who remember this great mystery in this holy
place, the ability to celebrate both in faith and in
holiness of life, the immensity of your mercy.

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy

Celebrant: Dear Brothers and Sisters: On this commemoration of Our Lady of Loreto, our heavenly patron, we joyfully recall her privileges and celebrate her mission. As we make our common prayer to God our Father, let us thank him for giving Mary to us as a Mother and a model of Christian living.

For our Holy Father Pope N., our bishop N., and for all priests, deacons religious and lay leaders in the church, that in communion with the Holy Spirit they may lead the faithful by their words and example to the House of God our Father. We pray:

For our families, that they may live together in faith, hope and love. By the help and example of the Holy Family of Nazareth, may they become true domestic Churches. We pray:

For all who suffer in body and spirit, that in the heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary they may find support in their faith, certainty in their hope and consolation in their suffering. We pray:

For all travelers and for those who make their journeys possible, that with the protection of Our Lady of Loreto, heavenly patroness of all air travelers, they may arrive safely at their destinations. We pray:

For all those who have died, we remember especially all of our loved ones who have passed away. We also pray for those who have died alone or unloved, the unwanted or forgotten, for victims of violence and war.

Celebrant: Lord, look kindly upon your people as we joyfully acclaim Our Lady of Loreto as our mother and patron. By her intercession grant that we may remain faithful to our Christian vocation and one day enjoy in heaven the blessed vision of your glory through Christ our Lord.

when she accepted your plan of salvation.

Preface of Our Lady of Loreto

The Lord be with you.
L. And with your Spirit.
Lift up your hearts
L. We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
L. It is right and just.

It is truly right to give thanks and to praise your name,
Father most holy, almighty and eternal God.
We bless you and we give you glory through Jesus Christ
your Son, as we celebrate the memory of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

At Nazareth she accepted the message of an angel
That she had been chosen to be the Mother of God.
By her daily presence in the life of her Son in the midst
of the Holy Family, she shows us the beginnings of
salvation and invites us to imitate her example.
Mother and disciple of the Lord, Mary treasured and
pondered, deep within her heart, the first fruits of the
Gospel.

As a virgin united in marriage with Joseph, the just man
of faith, she celebrated you with song, worshiped you in
silence, praised you with the work of her hands and
glorified you with all her life.
In union with Mary and Joseph, and together with all
the angels and saints and all the families who fear your
name, we sing to you our hymn of praise:

Lord God, in this commemoration of Our Lady of Loreto,
you have given us a share in your redemption.
Grant that we may enjoy your fullest blessings
and experience ever more fully
the mystery of our salvation,
Through Christ our Lord.
