It is likely that Paul’s opponents, and possibly some Corinthians copying them, boasted about experiencing ecstatic phenomena and strange revelations. Once again, the Apostle reluctantly discusses his spiritual experiences, to which he attaches little importance. Paul shows humility regarding his spiritual intimacy, contrasting sharply with his statements about his apostolic work. Furthermore, God demonstrates his power through weak instruments. Weakness is where God’s strength reveals itself and acts.
