Perhaps intentionally, the priestly tradition (P) introduces the story of executing the work of the Sanctuary with the commandment about the Sabbath. Not even the important task of carrying out the instructions for building the Sanctuary can serve as an excuse to break the law concerning the sanctification of the seventh day. The commandment is strict and enforces the death penalty for violators. Generally, any work or activity must cease; however, the prohibition against lighting fires in houses is especially clear.
